Josh Short is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work focuses on integrating art into public life and the urban environment. He is a conceptual artist and sculptor, frequently incorporating social and political content into his work--from garbage culture to border-crossings and performance in American life. Josh has made several public projects in collaboration with Intersection for the Arts, GalerĂa de la Raza, Southern Exposure, and the 16th Street BART station. He is a founding director of the artist coalitions Hypersea and the Cardboard Institute of Technology. He also worked at Alliance Graphics.
This piece of art was selected to be part of the "Justice Matters" exhibit, a joint project of the Middle East Children's Alliance, Alliance Graphics, and the Berkeley Arts Center. The collection was first exhibited in 2005 and includes the works of the following artists: Ayed Arafa, Jesus Barraza, Eric Drooker, Ala Ebtekar, John Halaka, Mildred Howard, Lisa Kokin, Rafik Majzoub, Toxqui Perez, Jackie Salloum, Josh Short, Christine Wong, Holly Wong, and Jos Sances.
